Golisano's visit to Albion

I attended the meeting in Orleans County on Monday night where Mr. Golisano and Mr. Pitman spoke regarding wind turbines in that county. To start off, Mr. G. looks pretty good as he has lost considerable amount of weight. BUT, I do not agree with his take on the wild life issue (there is no issue as they do not admit to a problem with bird and/or bat kill). From my point of view, since the towns cannot originate their own wind turbine business, he will front it for 10 years then turn it over to the town.

Lakawanna's Towers

It is reported on a Buffalo TV station that some of the wind towers are up and getting ready to operate. Just for those who do not know, up close, what they are going to look like, here is your chance. At least you won't have to go to Lowville to see what they look like, now.

Ag Property Value Increase

Just a heads-up & FYI-- Published in the LeRoy PennySaver of March 12, 2007, and authored by Shelley Stein, Supervisor of Town of LeRoy:

Agricultural and Soil values increased significantly in which raised the taxable values. These values are derived by a formula of crop productivity from NYS Ag & Markets. All agricultural property owners will see an increase in taxable land values due to fo

waterville wind farm

effie: you are in the know! I need your assistance. A recent letter in the Daily News (2/28/07) refers to a wind farm (proposed) in Waterville, NY --about 16 miles south of Utica. I am not finding any reference to it on the net. Do you know anything about it? Ms. Sharp is referring to the financial aspect of the proposed farm--is there one? I am trying to check her facts.

DEC Extension for Comments-Glogal Warming

The New York State DEC is allowing another 60 days (till March 13, 2007) for the public to comment on preliminary global rules that will reduce CO2 emissions from power plants. (i.e. "a major contributor to global warming!!!") How come/why can't power plants just buy RPS (?) "credits to dirty the air" as other businesses do?

Hull Light Department's Turbine, Massashusetts

Does anyone know about the Hull Light Dept's Turbine? Didn't that turbine actually SAVE the taxpayers, up front, money, since it produced energy directly for their streetlights? Where does the taxpayer/electricity consumer save any money in any other "turbine farm". Aren't we taxpayers/consumers being "double-dipped?????) Again, turbines suck our funds and give us VERY little in return.

reference to Penn state site by "visitor again"

Visitor Again: I checked this site. It seems to be almost 4 years old!!! Nothing new there. Penn State is buying wind power energy! Have they not yet found a way to store the energy? It does state that EPA/DOE thinks they are doing a great job!! Are they still paying a premium for wind power (i.e green power!) Do you have anything newer to reference how great wind power is!

How to snooker the public

Just to insert my 2 cents into this rapter vs cat vs building vs wind turbine kill. Effie, this is just what the pro people want us to do. Fight about anything but the FACTS. In the trade magazine, NA Windpower, 9 items of how to fool the public was published. Care to hear them?

1. Name calling!!! = misinformation, misconceptions, liars, etc.
Anyone who opposes the wind turbines are "refer to above".

Have You Noticed?

Have the readers of this very interesting site, noticed that those who are pro wind turbines USUALLY are benefitting financially from siting on their property OR they WORK for the developers? Just read the local paper (Daily News). It appears those who are for the metal monstrosities are looking for a full wallet, not to whether they actually do what is promised. Why is it the information off the MET TOWERS is not available to the Public?
